The cards at this count are divided into groups. Cards valued as 0 do not influence the overall count, such cards are 2, 7, 8 and 9. Tens are valued as −1 and small cards 3-6 are counted as +1. Aces fall into separate category and can be counted separately or players may play according to the Basic Strategy.
