In case the dealers up card is an Ace, the players are offered the chance to insure their bets for the price of ½ of the original bet for the probable dealer Blackjack. In case the dealer does have Blackjack all the original bets lose and the insurance bet pays 2 to 1. If the dealer does not have Blackjack (dealer picks for the second card) the Insurance bets lose while the original bets go on playing.
