South Dakota - Standing Rock Tribe Contract

04 June 2009
Agreement Between South Dakota and Standing Rock Tribe

A new agreement was recently signed by South Dakota and Standing Rock Tribe for the next ten years that concerned the Grand River tribe's casino close to Mobridge.

The previous agreement lasted for four years only and just like this one it states the rules, terms and conditions for the tribe to operate this casino. This agreement was signed this Tuesday by the Governor Mike Rounds and tribal Chairman Ron His Horse Is Thunder.

According to the agreement, the casino may have 250 slot machines and unlimited number of tables for poker and blackjack, the same quantity allowed by the previous compact. Max table limit should be $100.

The insurance has to be up to $1 mln to protect customers from being injured at the casino.

Tribes that wish to create and run their own casino are to agree with the state on a gambling compact.
