Progressive blackjack is one of the most wide-spread versions of the game. It does not differ a lot from traditional blackjack, though there are some points that should be taken into account before you play.
Just like traditional game, progressive blackjack is a game of a player and a dealer. The first thing any player would notice at the table is a place for an additional $1 bet. This bet is an extra one that gives you a chance to win special jackpot. The bet is done prior to card-dealing for each hand and any player can play 5 hands at the same time. Split hands are still counted as one hand.
The cards are dealt the same way as at the traditional blackjack (players get two cards face up and dealer’s cards are one face up and the other face down).
The Objective of Progressive blackjack is to have a hand higher than the dealer without going over 21. Dealer is to hit on 16 or less and stop on 17 or higher. Card values are the same as in traditional blackjack.
Special rules apply to Progressive blackjack which makes this game different from the traditional.
When a player decides to Split a pair of Aces he gets only two cards – one extra card per hand and stands automatically. If the second card dealt to the player is a 10-valued one, this is not a blackjack, but a hand that totals 21. Re-splitting is usually not allowed.
Players are allowed to Double only when his/her hand totals 9, 10 or 11. You are not allowed to Double down after you Split.
For special card combinations if the cards are dealt consecutively the player receives a progressive payout.
The payouts may be not the same in different casinos. Therefore, before you play be sure to check the rules and payouts of the casino you have chosen.
